Rotorua pizza lovers have cause to cheer - the owner of the city's new Domino's store has been named the company's fastest pizza cutter in Australasia.

Kaedyn Stops, who recently opened the Redwood Centre Domino's with his brother, Liam, is the first Rotorua-based Domino's worker to win the prize.

To win the title, which is awarded about six times a year, Kaedyn was timed cutting two pizzas and putting them in a hot delivery cell in 14.64 seconds.

"I've always been one of the fastest pizza cutters in every team I've worked for, but to know I'm the quickest in all of Australia and New Zealand is awesome," he said.

"Owning my own store now gives me even more drive to deliver the best service possible."

The new pizza outlet, which will celebrate its official opening on November 11, is the brothers' first business.

The teenagers - Kaedyn is 19 and Liam is 18 - started working for Domino's in their hometown of Hastings when they were 12, before moving to the Napier outlet, where they both eventually attained roles of shift managers.

The new store has created 10 jobs for Rotorua.

Liam said the two brothers were thrilled to be able to pass their new skills and knowledge on.

"We are looking forward to helping others grow as we have.

"This is not only our first business, but our first time living away from home."

Kaedyn and Liam said the inclination of Rotorua pizza eaters to pick up their pizzas [rather than have them delivered] had made it easier to get to know the community.

"We sold more than 275 pizzas on our first day, so we had a good chance to meet a lot of our future regulars," said Kaedyn.

The pair will mark the opening of the new outlet by decorating the store with balloons, running in-store specials and having Domino's national mascot Pepperoni Pete on-site to greet customers.
