A man accused of using a car to kill a woman in Taupo will stand trial in May next year.

The case of Adrian Ngamotu, 54, was called in the High Court in Rotorua today. His appearance was excused.

Ngamotu has previously pleaded not guilty to one charge of manslaughter for the death of Lisa-Anne Ngamotu, 40, and one charge of assaulting Logan Gillard using a vehicle as a weapon.

Justice Sarah Katz further remanded Ngamotu in custody to reappear on September 20 for a callover.

The trial is set down for May 14 next year.

The charges stem from an incident at Acacia Bay, near Taupo, on May 8 when Lisa-Anne Ngamotu was hit by a vehicle on a private property.

She was flown to Waikato Hospital by helicopter but later died from her injuries.
