A man in his 50s had to be flown to hospital after his vehicle rolled on State Highway 1 near Waiouru yesterday.
The man, who had been trapped in the car, was flown by the Palmerston North-based rescue helicopter to Wanganui Hospital with serious injuries.
Members of the Taihape and
Waiouru fire brigades had marshaled the rescue helicopter to land after police closed the highway.
A female passenger in the vehicle was also taken to Wanganui Hospital by ambulance, with moderate injuries.
The pair were believed to be a married couple from Feilding.
