A man has been rescued from a pine plantation south of Taupo after suffering leg injuries.
At about 1pm today, the Rotorua based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was despatched to a forest near Mission Bay, south of Taupo.
Reports of a man who had sustained injuries had been made to ambulance control however due to the location in the forest the helicopter was sent to provide extraction and medical assistance.
When the 24-year-old Taupo man was located among a pine plantation a St John Intensive Care paramedic was winched from the helicopter into the site.
Once stabilised they were both winched back aboard the helicopter which then airlifted the patient to Rotorua Hospital.
