A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder in relation to the death of a woman in Te Teko this morning.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Tauranga District Court tomorrow via AVL.

Earlier, a police spokeswoman said police were alerted about 11.15am.

"Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident. We are speaking to witnesses to establish the circumstances of the woman's death," the police spokeswoman said.

"Officers will continue to examine the scene this afternoon, which has been cordoned off. A scene guard is in place and will remain overnight."
