Rotorua police are urgently seeking a man who broke into a Ngongotahā home, rifled through an underwear drawer and ejaculated at the scene.

The man broke into the property through a window between 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday.

Area prevention manager Inspector Brendon Keenan said the top underwear drawer was open and a substance which appeared to be semen was found on the floor.

Keenan stressed the urgency of finding the man as this could be an early indication of sexual offending.

"These people will often go on to commit more serious sexual offence-type crimes."
