The Rotorua Musical Theatre has announced the cast for the upcoming production of Mamma Mia! - but it's still on the lookout for a keen local to land one of the lead roles.

The Rotorua Musical Theatre held auditions for the show last weekend, with more than 60 people trying out for a part in the upcoming production.

Production manager Richard Marshall said the cast had been chosen but there was one role yet to be filled.

"The only role left to cast is Sky. We are looking for a male who can dance, sing, looks great and likes to party. Sky is Sophie's fiance in Mamma Mia!.

"There must be someone in Rotorua who fits this description and wants to be part of this superb production," he said.

Mamma Mia! features 22 of ABBA's greatest hits including Dancing Queen, I Have a Dream, Knowing Me Knowing You, Super Trouper, Voulez-vous and Mamma Mia.

The musical tells the story which unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

The story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, and every night everyone's having the time of their lives, Mr Marshall said.
