With less than a week until Christmas Day, reporter Stephanie Arthur-Worsop has come up with the A to Z of Rotorua-inspired gift ideas.

A - Admission tickets to local attractions. Residents are never short of fun activities to do in Rotorua. Buying family members admission tickets to their favourite local attractions is bound to score you some brownie points.

B - Books. Rotorua is brimming with book stores, both well-known chains and locally owned. All have a wonderful selection of enthralling novels, coffee table books and quirky paperbacks, you will be spoilt for choice.

C - Cycling gear. Rotorua is known for its urban cycleways and mountain bike trails. Head to one of the numerous bike shops around the city to pick up a gift for that adrenaline junkie in your family.

D - Dinner voucher. Who doesn't love eating out? Treat your family members to a professionally prepared meal at one of the countless, delicious eateries around Rotorua.

E - Espresso machine. Buy someone an espresso machine and they can play at being a "cafe" owner at home - not to mention the money they'll save on buying takeaway coffees.

F - Fondue. Forget the rule about not playing with your food - fondues are all about fun. There are many different types of fondues - oil, cheese, chocolate - take your pick.
At Christmas time, there are usually some affordable ones around at various shops.

G - Get creative and make some gifts yourself. Search pinterest for ideas then put a Rotorua spin on it for the perfect Vegas themed gift.

H - Honey. Whether it's facial cream, body scrub or hair oil, honey does wonders for your body. Stores all around the city stock a wide range of honey products.

I - Ink pens. The adult colouring-in fad is still in hot demand. If you have an avid-colourer in the family, buy them some fine tip ink pens to add to their collection.

J - Jade (Greenstone). A prized piece of pounamu carved by local artists makes a beautiful gift that will be cherished for a lifetime.

K - Kaimanawa horses have captured the imagination of people for years. Capture the imagination of a little one with a cuddly soft toy horse.

L - Lake Rotorua. We can't all have a lake view, but you can have the serenity of the lake in your home or office by hanging up a painting or a photograph of it.

M - Mankie. Check out Rotorua's outdoor shops for creative mankies (man hankie) with detailed maps of the Redwood Forest.

N - Night Market stalls. If you find yourself still needing to buy some presents on Christmas Eve the Rotorua Night Market will be in full swing. Peruse the stalls for some quirky presents.

O - Ordinates. Stuck for what to get that outdoorsy couple in the family? Get them a Geocaching starter kit or upgrade their existing membership.

P - Petrol vouchers. Take a load off the holiday cost with petrol vouchers at some of the cheapest petrol stations in New Zealand.

Q - QE Health. The perfect gift for the family member with a New Year's resolution to commit to total wellness.

R - Redwoods. Go to the Redwoods visitor centre to pick up a gift about or inspired by one of Rotorua's favourite forests.

S - Spa treatment. By the end of the year, most people are pretty stressed out. Pay for someone to have a massage (or administer it yourself if you're any good at it) - the stresses of work and the Christmas rush will be gone and they'll be refreshed for the New Year.

T - Thermal mud. Rotorua's mineral rich mud is known for its revitalising qualities. Share the love and buy a tub for the loved ones who like getting down and dirty.

U - UB40 tickets. Nothing compares to buying an experience for your loved one. The legendary British reggae/pop band is playing at the Lakefront on January 9 so grab a couple of tickets and head along.

V - Volcanic Hills wine. Have a wine-lover in the midst? Treat them to a couple of bottles of locally grown wine.

W - Whalebone. A special whalebone pendant painstakingly carved by a local artist is a thoughtful gift for those you cherish.

Y - Yates, Aunty Bea. Looking to get something for the young ones? How about one of the many books authored by Rotorua's very own Aunty Bea!

Z - Zorb. Throw a friend down a hill in a giant plastic ball invented right here in Rotorua by the team at Zorb Rotorua
