Domestic violence against women is a concern, a reader says. Photo / Getty

New Zealand females are being killed at one of the highest rates in the industrialised world.

In 2019, 27 women were the subject of homicide in New Zealand compared with 118 women killed by men in the UK in the last year.

It is a shocking comparison.

Until there is a fundamental change in socialisation and education, it is virtually impossible to see a change in the horrible statistical violence that women are subjected to.

Wake up men and respect all genders, especially women.

Easy fix for housing crisis

The housing crisis continues to govern the headlines and the doubts and fear of thousands of Kiwis.

The answer is not as difficult as the politicians would have us believe, indeed it is very simple.

The cure is simple: Bring in compulsory purchase immediately and rid us of the thousands of empty properties, then bring in a law to prohibit the use of houses as commodities.

This will bring thousands of houses instantly on to the market - and down will come the prices.
