Your newspaper article informs me Councillor (Reynold) Macpherson is once again to face code of conduct complaints -- three.

These have been made by the chief executive, councillor Fisher Wang and Rural Community Board chairwoman Shirley Trumper.

The complaints follow Facebook posts. These type of complaints have happened in the past and, to my knowledge, not accomplished anything.

Do we not live in a democracy where opposing voices are tolerated?

Would it not be more prudent to simply ignore this?

Apparently not. More public money and time - for what purpose?

Time and money could be better spent

In my opinion, the three Code of Conduct Complaints against councillor Reynold MacPherson (News, May 1) are a waste of money.

Surely time and money would be better spent on the final report for the 10-year plan and the issue of homeless in Rotorua.

In my view, the mayor would be better getting chief executive Geoff Williams, councillor Fisher Wang and Shirley Trumper to withdraw their complaints.

Taking the mickey?

Is the Ministry of Social Development taking the mickey out of the taxpayer?

Not only do MSD clients (including some gang members) get a warm unit, spa pool, free electricity, Sky TV, room cleaned, they get their dirty laundry done too.

What incentive is there for them to look for a job? Or a roof over their heads?

Some clients have reportedly been staying in motels for over a year, which is a breach of the local District Plan. A motelier admitted at a public meeting they get paid up to $2000 per week, per room, supposedly to cover high-risk clients doing any damage.

Minister Carmel Sepuloni recently confirmed the Government pays motel owners for damages too, however, she has no idea how much has been paid?

No wonder New Zealand has the reputation of being the "land of milk and honey" - a promised land of natural abundance and endless opportunity.

However, it is time for some to stop milking the system and the government to stop milking the taxpayer.
