I have watched with interest the calls for an independent review of our council and will add my two cents' worth.

I can totally understand the call for independent review and listening to comments from people I speak to, Rotorua Lakes Council, as an organisation, appears dysfunctional due to some people unable to operate together through personalities, private agendas, the lack of ability to listen to anyone else's opinion or ideas, especially ratepayers.

The debt we are being saddled with is totally unsustainable for us or future generations.

When you pay $65 per week for rates, as we do, before the average 9.2 per cent increase, it begs the question how this can be healthy to ratepayers with inflation running under 3 per cent annually.

In my view, an independent review is a must for this dysfunctional council.

Reduce speed bump height

I have had one of the Kawaha Point Rd speed bumps measured with a laser level and the height was 190mm - nearly twice the national design standard.

When are they going to be, at the very least, reduced in height to the national standard of 100mm?

Thanks all

We would like to thank all the Rotorua people who helped us on Thursday, after an accident, early afternoon.

Police, ambulance first responders, street support and of course the shops nearby - Hell Pizza, Candy World Rotorua and Art United Rotorua.

Ten grateful people thank you all very much for your help and kindness you were wonderful.

'Disheartening': Why a bid to house homeless people in pods fell over

A local business made the $2500 pods. A charity bought some. Then plans began unravelling.
