Rotorua District Council, you have set a high benchmark to the many regions in our country.
My partner and I live in an 8m self-contained bus. It is our home, full time.
We have experienced many forms of "motorhome-friendly" towns, cities, and communities, in our travels. Some provide over andabove the "motorhome-friendly" label.
I thank you and salute you for the overnight parking area beside the Polynesian Spa pools. We parked among immaculately presented gardens, and within walking distance to a supermarket, cafes and shops.
Full credit to the decision-makers on your council for providing this facility for motorhome and camper visitors to your city.
I was very interested in your article about the "Controlled burn-off" at Okere Falls on Wednesday last, in which was stated that this was to rid the land of gorse, so that it could be replanted.
Where I lived in the UK there was a block of National Trust land which we children used as our playground and which had large areas of gorse coverage. Almost every summer there would be a fire - and we have all seen just how well gorse burns - which would leave the area completely devastated.
However, by the following spring, the area would have sprung back to life with renewed vigour. This made me wonder just how useful the long-term effects of this massive Okere Falls fire will be?
