Given that this is the last week that this will happen as we know it, I would like to pay homage to the "rubbish boys" that have collected my rubbish bag every single week for the last 27 years.

Not rain, hail, snow, ash or Christmas Day, Good Friday or any other holiday that fell on a week day, has caused them to miss one single pick up.

I had the privilege of working with them many years ago and know that they are one of a kind who have had one of the most unsavoury jobs on the planet.

Unsung heroes in my book and I wish you all the very best as we move forward to making our world a better place for our grandkids. Kia kaha boys.

Regarding the comments, opinions relating to growth push divides readers.

I believe that change is good and growth is part of going forward. I have been living in Rotorua for a long time and have always felt negative about Rotorua.

Now that I have seen some growth and seen some changes I hope it will continue as we all benefit from it.

Changes bring fear in some people but embrace it and make Rotorua a place where others want to live.
