Much as I like the sculpture planned for the southern entry to Rotorua (though not its price tag) I am not happy with such a large structure at a roundabout.
I would have thought the necessity for clear vision within the entire proximity of a roundabout, without any distraction, was paramount. I cannot recall any roundabouts or major intersections elsewhere where something as large as the sculpture proposed is sited.
Safety should come before art.
