I have moved to Ngongotaha, I have two high school girls attending Western Heights High School.
I was very disappointed when i dropped my girls off at the bus stop on Beaumonts Rd this morning to see they had no shelter, had to stand in the pouring rain with umbrellas.

That is not on. The kids would be soaked by the time they get to school, being cold then eventually sick.

Something needs to be done, also Hood St doesn't have a shelter either.

Someone should take photos of the kids standing in this weather, I would have but didn't have my phone.

City litter

While waiting for an appointment last week I watched a worker in a high-vis vest sitting on one of the garden boxes eating his lunch in Hinemoa St just down from The City Focus (Manawa)

I didn't have an issue with that. But, it was his disposing of his rubbish. He left his egg shells in the garden box, tipped the dregs from his tea/coffee into the kerbside garden, along with the crusts from his sandwiches; he then folded up his plastic bag into his back pack and walked off down the street.

I went out and spoke to one of the wardens; wasn't his jurisdiction. Wished now, I had chased the guy down the street and showed him just how close the rubbish bin was!

We have a perfectly good one in Todd McClay, he has served the city well for many years and he knows and understands Rotorua - given time he may even find a worthwhile party to support.

I know Todd and I like and trust him and I will vote for him in spite of my political preferences (only very recently changed) and I sincerely hope that many others will do the same.

There is little point in having more than one MP in a city the size of Rotorua.

Have a heart for Mamaku

Re Silence shrouds a Mamaku mystery (Rotorua Daily Post, September 2).

Coming from a community that is reeling with our latest tragedy this article does nothing to help mend the already wounded community.

Not only are some of the so-called facts of the article hearsay but it paints our community as feral, unwelcoming and backward.

Take a look around some of your own suburbs and see how many people are struggling to keep their homes well maintained, and as for the number of homes with high fences and large dogs compared to those with no fence or regular fencing it would be comparative to other areas in the country.

Have a heart and give our community time to heal.

Perhaps elections might help some of our families with a leg up to your high standards. Thanks Steve Chadwick for her "no comment" on the case, when there is news to be had the police will make it available to everyone.
