I disagree that the police should be taking the blame for the car pursuits that end so disastrously.
The buck stops, in my opinion, with the driver who fails to stop when requested to.
If these so-called drivers had any sense at all they would stop. How often do theresults, after these pursuits are over, show the following:
a. Stolen car b. No driver licence c. Car full of youngsters d. Drugs and alcohol e. Car with no warrant, and so on?
The police are not the blame for this so stop trying to make them the reason for this issue, look at the people who cause the carnage. DEREK PACKHAM Lake Tarawera
Dig out some work Having read about the council's Infracore company being short of work, and may have to lay staff off, how about sending a crew or two to the well organised recycling centre and the hospice area gardens?
They are so overgrown, weedy and ugly. Dig them out, and have our well known council gardeners replant some lovely shrubs as we have on the corner of Pukuatua and Hinemaru Sts, and other lovely gardens in our great city. J. D. ELERS Rotorua
Helping hands On Sunday I was at Butchers Pool, Reporoa/Broadlands. My friend was enjoying the water. Eventually I decided that my mind was stronger than my body. I have Motor Neuron Disease.
I got out from the car, down to the edge and put just my legs into the pool. Dumb move! I got out of the pool but couldn't get back up to the car. I crawled up the grass slope as far as I could, and fell exhausted.
Thanks so, so much to the two guys who came, lifted me to my feet and helped me back up to the carpark. Without you two, it would have been a 111 call. CHARLES FLETCHER Rotorua
