When can we expect an improvement on traffic backing up at the Redwood/Tarawera roundabout carrying traffic from Te Ngae road into the city?
Three times this week I have travelled into town between 11.30am and 2.30pm and, having passed through the newly installed traffic lights at Iles Road, I
have then joined a long queue just past these lights waiting to proceed on to the roundabout at Redwood/Tarawera.
Each time I have spent at least eight to 10 minutes in the queue before reaching the roundabout. Once over the roundabout the road is clear.
Many vehicles are driving on the median strip and turning into Allan Mills Rd and then into Marino Rd to enter the roundabout quicker. I consider this move very dangerous - also it is illegal to travel on the median strip.
Next week most heavy logging transport is back on the road so we can expect longer than ever waiting.
