Letters: Clean up Hinemoa St toilets

The well known saying "the early bird catches..." certainly came to mind recently when I had the need to visit the public toilets in Hinemoa St.

Goodness knows what my battered immune system was exposed to, at the early hour of 9am, the commencement of the usual busy Rotorua weekend.

Gone are the beautifully kept facilities in Pukuatua St and long gone the promises to upgrade the Hinemoa St site. No infant facilities either in this unclean and shabby site, I now know why our temporary library is frequented by young mums and bubs.

Thankfully the tap water was hot and the hand dryer working!

Come on council. Make a move now to improve this site.

Skatepark safe place for all

I wish to correct your reader who says the skatepark is a centre for the unemployed (Letters, May 8).

As a daily user, I can think of at least 15 skaters, scooters and bikers who are not unemployed or on the dole. Most of the kids at the park come after school and at the weekends. This is usually a safe and family friendly environment.

I think a skatepark is a good thing to put money into. Even if there were several skaters on the dole, they would be keeping fit and not walking the street asking for money.

I support the upgrading of the park.
