In response to the Rotorua Daily Post's article on the plans to move the ambulance station (News, March 29). I think that is a great idea and that fire and emergency should do the same.

As for staff being concerned about the need to located centrally, it wouldn't be hard to post an ambulance crew at Rotorua A & E department to deal with central turnouts.

Yes, the traffic can get a bit overloaded at times but that is what lights and sirens are for.

If staff are really concerned about the turnout times in Rotorua, well I have been an ambulance officer for 14 years and a firefighter for over 30 years and it always takes them up to an hour to respond to our jobs in Murupara.

We (Fire and Emergency) turnout Rotorua ambulance out for the same callouts they attend and I have never had an ambulance on site within 40 minutes. Have been told also that Murupara first response ambulance has been off the road for some time, so where are the priorities here when we talk about time and people's lives?

I think that all police, fire and ambulance station should be waived of their land rates. (Abridged)

Enjoying a giggle despite delay

I thought about joining the Rotorua Croquet Club when I moved here four years ago.

I procrastinated - "should I, shouldn't I?". But I met a friendly bunch of players who enjoy the game, and I enjoy meeting new players. I wasted four years, should have joined earlier. It is lots of fun. A bit like chess, a bit like snooker - not too serious. We enjoy a giggle.

Government Gardens, Wednesday and Saturday mornings, 9ish, Monday, Thursday evenings at 5pm. See you there. (Abridged)
