League: Warriors make it two wins from two

Pikiao have made a perfect start to this year's combined Coastline/Bay of Plenty competition.

The Warriors followed an opening week away win against Mangakino with a 30-12 victory over Pacific Sharks at Puketawhero Park on Saturday.

It was revenge for a six point loss to the same team in Tokoroa in the pre-season grading games.

Pikiao head coach Jason Parata said he was pleased with the way his side came back from being 12-8 down at half-time and with an improvement in discipline after losing two players to suspension following the win over Mangakino Hawks.

"After half-time we did the simple things well. All the little things we did right, we cut the errors out of our game and completed our sets," he said.

The win showed how the team have improved since the grading game loss.

"But we still have things to work on. I don't want to sit back and think we've got it, because I don't think we've got it yet, but it was a better game.

"There was also an improvement [in discipline] but it's still something to work on."

Prop Scott Evans stood out for Pikiao and was named man of the match.

Ngongotaha Chiefs had the bye at the weekend, and the two sides clash next Saturday in the local derby.
