"It's tough playing on a Monday, it isn't something anyone is used to, so we were happy to get the win."
Pikiao had been working on their defence because, while they were picking up wins, their points differential was not what it could be, he said.
"It's just lapses - we get ahead and then fall asleep or we give away a lead and claw our way back.
"I'd like them to start really well and then hold it."
When the teams met in the first round of the competition the Warriors won 20-6.
"Our discipline was a bit poor that day but we sort of hung in there.
"They're a big physical pack so we are expecting more of the same on Saturday, they'll try and out-muscle us again.
"We've got some pretty skilful players, so if we can stick to our processes and game plan we should be right."
The Ngongotaha Chiefs are away to Taupo tomorrow and will be looking to bounce back from a 50-6 hammering at the hands of the Otumoetai Eels last weekend.
Coach Jason Walker said the loss was largely due to ill-discipline from his players.
"It's something we're trying to work on, we gave away a lot of penalties," said Walker.
The majority of the penalties were for holding down too long in the tackle, which Walker said came down to a lack of fitness.
"We started the season late so we're still trying to get the fitness up to where it should be.
"I think it is improving, they've been putting in the effort at training but it all just fell apart last weekend."
When the sides met in round one Taupo came away with a narrow 16-14 victory.
"We were pretty close, it was just a bit of discipline again."
Both games kick off at 2.30pm.
