Community projects will benefit from funds raised at this weekend's Rotorua Club of Rotary Steptoe garage sale.
The club is holding a large garage sale in Geddes Rd in Koutu tomorrow, the first garage sale it has held in some years, to raise much needed funds for community projects inRotorua.
"We have chosen the name Steptoe, with a picture of Harold Steptoe and his son in our promotion, as that rather old but popular TV show [Steptoe and Son] epitomises what garage sales are all about nowadays - someone's junk is someone else's treasure," organiser Kieren Irvine said.
The club would have tables full of treasures for people to browse through.
This year the club had focused on supporting young people to achieve, he said.
Youth had been funded to attend Outward Bound, go to school in Brazil, attend summer science school camps at Waikato and Auckland universities and attend a Rotary Youth Leadership camp.
The club also donated money annually to international projects such as Polio Plus and this year a significant donation was made to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal, Mr Irvine said.
