The bodies of the two men were found on August 17. Raymond, 51, and his nephew James, 25, had been missing for a week-and-a-half before the discovery.
James was last seen on August 7 about 6.30pm when a man knocked on the door of his grandmother's house, where he was living.
It is understood James then left with the man, without his wallet, shoes and keys.
Raymond is understood to have gone missing around the same time and the pair were reported missing two days later on August 9.
Members of the Fleet family and Mamaku locals have been reluctant to comment publicly about the case since the discovery of the bodies.
The spokesman said police were still asking those with information to contact Rotorua police on (07) 349 9400. Alternatively, information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
