At least three people were injured after a two-vehicle crash near Lake Taupō.

Police said the crash in Western Bay Rd, SH32, between Tūrangi and Taupō was reported about 10am and the road is closed.

Three people have serious and moderate injuries and one person was trapped.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said two ambulances, two helicopters, and one operations manager responded.

“One patient in a critical condition is being airlifted to Waikato Hospital, one patient in a serious condition is being transported to Rotorua Hospital by ambulance and one patient in a moderate condition is being transported to Taupo Hospital by ambulance.”
