The Lake Tarawera Spring Fair was bustling as people enjoyed the range of stalls on offer while soaking up the sunshine.

It was held on Sunday at Stoney Point Reserve.

Organiser Andrea Sheffield said it had been busy with a lot of people coming through.

She said there was a range of stalls, including food, soap, jewellery, woodwork, children's stalls, and crafts.

She said this year money from the fair would be going to the Lake Tarawera Community Hall where there was a playgroup for children.

Sheffield said what she enjoyed about holding the fair was the sense of community.

"Family and friends come along. You usually see someone you haven't seen for a while - It's just that whole community feel."

She said people from the community - young and old - also volunteered to help the fair run.

Lorna McIlroy had spent time at the fair with her family and said they had been to the fair before.

She said she liked the selection and all the hand-made products - "I like to support the local stalls".

It was a lovely day and the fair had nice food, she said.

McIlroy said the children had enjoyed the ice cream, food and games such as Jenga.

She said it was a good day out for families since it was a great venue which had a playground and was by the water, and had games for the children along with food they enjoyed.

"Lots of things are cheap and I liked watching the auction bidding", said Ella McIlroy, 10.

Zac McIlroy, 5, said he liked eating the sausages and his father's steak sandwich, while Evan McIlroy, 9, said he had got to buy a pogo stick and enjoyed the ice cream.
