Kawerau's Tom Tarver-Priebe comes to grief, thrown from Balouboy Du Busson during the Stirrups Equestrian Horse 1.35m North Island Showjumping Championships in Tauranga yesterday.

On his second mount, Grand Coeur 36, Tarver-Priebe finished 26th in the event.

Rotorua rider Oliver Croucher finished ninth on Waitangi Surf and also rode Waitangi Wi Fi to ninth in the Oakridge Equestrian North Island FMG Young Rider Series yesterday.

Neither Tarver-Priebe on Grand Coeur 36, nor Croucher on Waitangi Wi Fi, managed to go clear in the opening round, and so did not compete in the jump-off in the Bayley's Tauranga Classic, one of the feature events of the weekend.
