John Paul College has reproduced a winning effort from 20 years ago to again claim the Newsteam title.
Rotorua's Newsteam competition entered its 20th year yesterday night at the Sportsdrome, with 28 teams flicking through a copy of the Rotorua Daily Post to find answers to different questions.
Each team
of three had 60 minutes to answer 65 questions, with John Paul College winning the Year 7 and 8 section with 58 correct answers.
"It was stressful. We thought we had the right answers but when you looked up [at the scoreboard] you would only have four out of five correct," John Paul College team member Hana Stubbing said.
Hana, 13, said her team had practised for about six weeks using random Rotorua Daily Post newspapers.
