Lakes District Health Board has decided to postpone today's planned go-live of the LEAP project, designed to make it easier for clinicians to access laboratory results in a timely fashion.
The health board has been working closely with primary care and other partners across the district on the project,
and was planning go-live for today.
However, Chief Information Officer Alex Wheatley said on Friday the intensive testing process presented a new issue that could represent significant clinical risk, resulting in the decision to delay the go-live.
He said it was very disappointing for everyone who had been involved in the project, but he was confident that the difficulties could be worked through.
The LEAP project is designed to allow both hospital clinicians and general practitioners involved in patient care, access to the past and future laboratory results of Lakes district residents.
It is not known at this stage when the new system can be implemented across the Lakes DHB area.
