Ironman update: Cameron Brown claims 11th title

It was a good day for the Kiwis at Ironman New Zealand in Taupo, finishing 1-2-3.

It was also an especially good day for Ironman New Zealand legend Cameron Brown, who claimed his 11th title at the event today.

He broke his own record for being the oldest male to win an Ironman event anywhere in the world, at age 42.

Fellow Kiwis Torenzo Bozzone and Dylan Mcneice finished second and third respectively.

Bozzone finished seven minutes behind Brown with Mcneice over 10 minutes back.

Meanwhile, American sensation Meredith Kessler broke her own record in the women's race.

She shaved two minutes off her old record in Taupo, finishing in about 9hr 06min.

She has now won the event on four consecutive attempts.

Whanganui's Gina Crawford finished second about 20 minutes back.

She was the top Kiwi female. Kessler was one of the first people to congratulate her at the finish.
