Five Bay of Plenty indoor bowlers have been named in representative teams.

The region will provide two bowlers in the Northern Zone Masters team, Derek Owen and Delwyn Hughes, of the Owhata Club. Robin and Jacque Porter, Lake Taupo, are in the North Island Academy team which has Matthew Farquhar as reserve.

The teams will take on the Southern Zone Masters and South Island Academy teams at the National Championships in Taupo on June 17.

Ngongotaha win Rotorua Interclub Title

The Ngongotaha Indoor Bowls representatives, John Rayner, Colin Hanson, Cheryl Wiggins, Jan Drabble, Eddie Dibley, Robin Campbell, Murray Harris and Helen White, won the Rotorua Association's championship inter-club title for the Charlie Jones Memorial Trophy at the Westbrook Primary School on Sunday.

Ngongotaha led from the first round of fours when it won both of their games and was never headed throughout the tournament. After two rounds of pairs Ngongotaha led with 24 points followed by Owhata 16, Westbrook and Rotorua Club 8 and RSA 4.
Two rounds of singles saw Ngongotaha ahead with 33, Owhata 28, Westbrook 19, Rotorua Club 13 and RSA 7.

In the final round of fours Ngongotaha won one game to clinch the title with 37 points followed by Owhata 34, Westbrook 23, Rotorua Club 19 and RSA 7.
Four points were awarded for a win in the fours, two points in the pairs and one point in the singles.

Colin Hanson and Cheryl Wiggins were the top scorers for Ngongotaha with six wins.

Bay runner-up
On Saturday Bay of Plenty finished runner-up in the Membery Trophy Development fixture at Taupo.

North Taranaki, competing for the first time in the event, won with 80 points followed by Bay of Plenty 70 with Waikato 69 and Hawke's Bay 69.

The Bay of Plenty teams were: Brian Flett, Joshua Mills, J.R. Mills, Stacey James; Keith Wray, Wayne Hitchens, Chris Guy, Pai Te Tamaki; Ron Munn, Keith Richardson, Elain Howard, Murray Harris; Tom Cook, Alan Gordon, Christine Kingi, Andrew Flett.
