Unbeaten record? Check. Top goalscorer? Check.

Ngongotaha FC rounded out their title winning WaiBOP Premiership with a 3-3 draw against Matamata Swifts on Saturday with the league's top scorer Mitch Miller scoring all three of his side's goals to pass 50 for the season.

It means the champions have gone through the season dropping just four points, the result of the draw against Matamata on Saturday and at Waikato Unicol earlier in the season.

The side finished the season conceding just 18 goals and scoring 105 - by far the best stats for any side in the league.

''It's quite amazing," said coach Shane Davis. ''I don't think anything like that has been achieved at the club before."

But Davis said the season was far from over, the ultimate goal being promotion to the Northern League Second Division if they could overcome an as yet undecided Auckland opponent in a two leg playoff.

Davis was particularly pleased with Saturday's the result as it came with several regulars missing.

Midfielder Alan Ferguson injured a shoulder the previous weekend, and skipper Dave Haua was also out injured. Josh O'Sullivan was suspended and Josh Haua was rested as he has four yellow cards to his name and a fifth would mean a suspension for the play-offs.

''What showed (on Saturday) was the depth within the club, because I had to play a lot of younger players but nothing really changed," said Davis.

Ngongotaha had to come back from two goals down against Matamata, pulling the score back to 2-1 just before half time. They then equalised before the hosts again nudged themselves in front.

'' We came back in the last five minutes and scored and then hit the post with about a minute to go," said Davis. ''But all in all it was a fair result. I'm very proud of the team, they have matured so much."

The playoff games are currently scheduled for October 1 and 8.
