House fire in Murupara ‘fully involved’, crews extinguish blaze

Crews have battled a “fully involved” house fire in Murupara in the Bay of Plenty today.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said they were called to the house on Matai St just after 9am.

“On arrival, the house was fully involved,” he said.

“The fire was contained to that property and has now been extinguished. Crews are working on putting out hotspots.”

The house was 15m by 7m and everyone had evacuated safely.

Police have been made aware and a fire investigator has been requested, he said.

Crews from Rotorua, Murupara and Kawerau attended the fire.
