Mr Davidson said that when he applied to be in the calendar he never thought he would be picked.
"I had to apply and send in photos and then a panel picked the 12 people who will be in the calendar."
He said he applied to be in the calendar as a personal challenge.
"I just thought I would give it a go because it is something that is totally out of my comfort zone. I never thought I would make it in to the calendar," he said.
"When I found out I had made it I was pretty nervous."
Mr Davidson said the photo shoot for the calendar was daunting.
"They flew me to Auckland and we did the photo shoot at the airport so as soon as I was off the plane we got into it," he said.
"They put me in different outfits and told me how to pose. I got a bit swept up in it all." Mr Davidson said he wanted to pose for the calendar as it raised money for charity.
"The Child Cancer Foundation is a worthwhile cause," he said.
"Also it is good that some of the money goes to the Firefighters Sports Association."
Mr Davidson was trying to keep it quiet that he would be appearing in next year's calendar.
"A few of the guys at the station found out and I have been getting a bit of a ribbing for it but it is all worth it."
He said he would definitely go through the process again but also encouraged Rotorua residents to get behind the calendars.
"They are for a great cause," he said. "People should really go out and get one."
