Rotorua's convention facilities will be on display to Australian delegates this weekend in an attempt to lure more business events to the city.

The delegates are in the country for Meetings 2015, an annual trade event showing off the conference and incentives travel sector to national and international buyers.

About 60 delegates are visiting regions all over the country this weekend before the convention on Wednesday and Thursday at ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.

Seven delegates arrive in Rotorua today and will leave on Sunday.

They will be carrying out site inspections at Rotorua's hotels and taking part in a range of activities, including experiencing Agrodome, Ogo, Canopy Tours and Off Road NZ.

Destination Rotorua will also be hosting selected key Meetings 2015 delegates at a function in Auckland on Wednesday night.

About six Rotorua operators will attend the Auckland event.

Blues Baths general manager Natasha Hall said Meetings was a great way to showcase Rotorua.

"It's an opportunity to make new business leads and build contacts and network. The main purpose of it is to showcase Rotorua and bring more conferences to Vegas."

Destination Rotorua trade marketing manager Patrick Dault said meetings provided an opportunity for Rotorua to present itself to important conference and incentives buyers.

"We're hoping to use this opportunity to build on our successful conference market and encourage more people to come to Rotorua.

"Rotorua is an ideal location for conferences and incentive programmes, boasting world class convention and meeting spaces, a wide variety of accommodation options, and the country's best attractions and hospitality providers."
