Horse rider raises alarm for ill man

The Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue helicopter was flown to Te Urewera National Park to take a 61-year-old ill man to hospital.

There were no roads to the remote address, north of Ruatahuna. A person rode out by horse to raise the alarm.

The helicopter was sent with a paramedic to retrieve the man about 4pm yesterday.

He was flown back to Rotorua Hospital in a stable condition.
