While there is plenty of delight that drought has broken in the Bay of Plenty, the wet weather has spelt out little joy for the region's cricket players, with the chances of play in the three Williams Cup matches scheduled for tomorrow looking slim.
The three Williams Cup games inthe Western Bay of Plenty have been rescheduled for artificial surfaces in the event of the weather abating enough for cricket to take place.
The Cadets v Tauranga Boys' College game has been shifted to Mitchell Park, while Greerton's match-up with Rotorua's Central Indians and Mount Maunganui's game against will both be played on the artificial wickets at Pemberton and Blake Parks respectively.
While Cadets, Mount Maunganui and Greerton are all in the box seat to make the Williams Cup playoffs, the real battle will be between Te Puke, Central Indians and Tauranga Boys' to grab the fourth playoff spot.
If there are no results posted this weekend, the last three contenders will have just three rounds to stake their claim for post-section cricket.
Central Indians have a hard road to hoe with Mount Maunganui, Tauranga Boys' College and Cadets, with Tauranga Boys' College meeting Greerton, Central Indians and Te Puke in their last three encounters.
Te Puke, currently in fourth place, finish the Williams Cup regular season with games against two of the top three teams in Cadets and Greerton and finish with Tauranga Boys' College.
