It's the end of an era for the family of former Prime Minister Sir Keith Holyoake, as their late grandfather's lakeside bach goes up for sale.
The two-bedroom Lockwood house at Kinloch has uninterrupted waterfront views out over Lake Taupo, and direct access to a marina at the rear.
SirKeith served twice as Prime Minister, briefly in 1957 and then between 1960 and 1972.
He was also Governor-General from 1977 to 1980. The 806sq m property, which has a capital value of $1.189 million, was one of the first holiday homes to be built in the village, about 20km from Taupo.

Built more than 60 years ago, the house is still in its original state and is a reluctant sale for the third-generation family owners.
Granddaughter Sue Holyoake said the bach held many fond memories."For us it's an end of an era. It won't be easy giving up what we've got there."
Bayleys agent Helen Webb said that when Sir Keith was asked on his deathbed in 1983 what his proudest achievement had been, he replied: "Kinloch." Ms Webb said it was the vision of Sir Keith and his farming partners that saw plans for the Kinloch township evolve into the holiday destination it had become today.
