Ryan Holmes has been appointed to the Geyser Community Foundation board of trustees.

A third-generation Rotorua businessman, Mr Holmes said he was honoured to have been appointed and looked forward to helping the foundation continue building up permanent endowment funds for the long-term benefit of the Rotorua and Taupo communities.

"We are very lucky to have the Geyser Community Foundation supporting our local communities. Geyser exists for the purpose of ensuring charitable gifts in the Rotorua and Taupo districts are managed as originally intended.

"Our family knows first-hand that this is a very powerful way for individuals, families or organisations to provide long-term benefits to their local community."

In 2012 the foundation was invited to take over the investments and management of the Harold Holmes Student Grant Trust, first established in 1991 by Mr Holmes' late grandfather, Harold Holmes.

Foundation chairman, Pat Brown, said trustees were delighted to welcome Mr Holmes on board.

Born in Rotorua, Mr Holmes is managing director of Holmes Group NZ and Holmes Group USA, which manage significant residential and commercial holdings, sub-divisional development, and commercial and retail construction.

He replaces Rotorua lawyer Richard Pryce, who was an inaugural trustee.
