After months of preparation, filming and editing, the team at Rotorua production company, Hikoi New Zealand Limited, can finally show off the fruits of their labour.

Two new television series, Chopper's Republic of Anzakistan and Pete and Pio will air tonight on TV3 and Maori Television, respectively.

Chopper's Republic of Anzakistan is a comedy series combining sketches and the stand up act of popular Australian comedian Heath 'Chopper' Franklin.

The show Pete and Pio combines the best elements of previous shows such as Tangaroa with Pio, Kai Time on the Road with Pete and Hunting Aotearoa and will highlight Pete Peeti and Pio Terei's diving, fishing, hunting and kai gathering skills outdoors and in the kitchen.

Hikoi Productions executive producer Piripi Curtis said he was "thrilled" the two shows would be screening tonight.

"A lot of work has gone into both the shows and we have loved filming and editing each episode.

"We have been working on Pete and Pio since December and are really pleased with it so we are hoping viewers will have the same reaction to it that we have."

Mr Curtis said the two shows offered completely different types of entertainment and he was equally proud of them.

"Pete and Pio showcases the natural beauty of our country as well as the talent and skill set of Pete and Pio. Chopper's Republic of Anzakistan is absolutely hilarious and Heath is so popular with New Zealand audiences that I think it will be a big hit."

Co-star of Pete and Pio, Mr Peeti, said he was "over the moon" to see the show go to air.

"It's great to get back on screen with a fresh feel. Pio is such a great guy and a true master of his craft.

"It has been an exciting journey for those of us taking part and one that I think people watching will enjoy immensely."

Pete and Pio will air on Maori Television at 8pm and Chopper's Republic of Anzakistan airs on TV3 at 10pm.
