Highway open following serious crash

State Highway 5 has reopened following a crash at Waipunga.

Emergency services were called to the crash in the Bay of Plenty Police District around 4pm on Monday.

In a statement this morning, a police spokesperson said three people had moderate injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene between Matea Rd and Pohoukura Rd.

Police report the highway is now open.
