The heels will be high, but the hopes will be even higher, when models take to the runway in the OHO Fashion Show tonight.

For the 50 or so models taking part in the show there won't just be the nerves of walking in front of a crowd - three of the models will win a trip to walk for Rotorua designer Kharl WiRepa when he showcases his fashion house at the Pacific Runway in Sydney in October.

Mr WiRepa said it was about making other people's dreams come true alongside his own, so he wanted to give models the opportunity to win a spot to go with him.

He said there had been a big response so far with about 50 models registered to walk in tonight's show - some from as far away as Christchurch.

Mr WiRepa said about half the models were from Rotorua.

"There are about 15 from Tauranga and at least 30 of them are from Rotorua."

He said there would be "fierce competition" for the spots and the quality of models was high.

"There will be big hopes and big heels."

Mr WiRepa will be joined by two others to decide on the winners, to be announced on the night.

The show, Oho, will also act as a fundraiser to help offset the cost of taking the models to Sydney.

What: Oho Fashion Show
Where: Rotorua Lakes Council
When: Tonight, 7pm
Tickets: VIP $50 and general admission $10. Tickets are available from Salon St Bruno.
