Heavy rain to continue

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in Rotorua and Bay of Plenty into early tomorrow afternoon.

MetService said that in the 30 hours from 9am this morning to 3pm Friday afternoon 120 to 160mm could accumulate on the top of what has already fallen especially about the eastern ranges.

Metservice warned that this is a significant amount of rain for the area and people are advised that streams and rivers will rise rapidly and slips and surface flooding was likely.
