MetService has warned of rain with localised heavy falls in Rotorua overnight tonight to tomorrow.

It has just issued another severe weather watch for Bay of Plenty and Rotorua, with a burst of rain expected to ease before dawn. 1957hrs 29-Mar-2017

A low over Waitomo this evening is forecast to move southeastwards overnight and weaken. This system should continue to bring rain to parts of the North Island until tomorrow morning, especially in the northeast of the Island.

People are advised to stay up to date with the latest forecasts.

Bursts of heavy rain are possible for the region today with the chance of thunderstorms.

A low over Bay of Plenty is forecast to weaken and move southwards, bringing localised heavy rain to Rotorua and Taupo and possible thunderstorms this afternoon.

Rain should clear this evening.
