He said it was good to get involved and was happy to help the organisers of the event in any way he could, both now and in the future.
The 10th annual Hamurana Playcentre Spring Fair and Grand Auction was held at the Hamurana Reserve with games, kids' rides, face-painting, stalls, food, activities and more on offer.
A grand auction was also held with 30 packages including family passes for activities, getaways and vouchers.
Members of the public, like Hamurana resident Celia Grant, walked around the event enjoying what was on offer.
Yesterday was Grant's first time at the fair and she was looking forward to seeing what it was all about and how she could support the playcentre and the community.
Hamurana Playcentre president and event organiser Elizabeth Reid said people seemed to be enjoying themselves at the event, despite the windy weather conditions.
"People have got smiles on their faces," Reid said.
She hoped the event would raise about $5000, like in previous years, which would go to helping the playcentre continue to operate.
It was not the only spring fair held this weekend with Pathways Steiner Kindergarten also hosting a fundraising event on Saturday.
