It could be a wet Fathers Day with showers and heavy falls as well as thunder and hail possible for Rotorua.
MetService said a complex low and associated fronts were expected to move east over the country today and Monday with periods of heavy rain expected about central parts of the country.
A heavy rain watch with possible thunderstorms is in place for Bay of Plenty east of Opotiki and the Gisborne ranges.
These thunderstorms could bring localised heavy rain of 10 to 20mm/h, winds gusting 90 to 100 km/h and small hail from Waikato southwards.
