Miss Herewini said although she always wore appropriate interview clothes and remembered to smile, she thought her size turned employers off.
"They take one look at me and say 'nah'.
"I'm a big lady," she said.
She also had a speech impediment, which made interviews more difficult, she said.
"I'm not really good at interviews but I try my best."
It was quite common for her to apply for jobs or go to an interview and never get a reply.
"[I'm] tired of it."
She had friends who were in similar situations, but many had given up looking for work.
Miss Herewini currently has a casual cleaning job, but said she wanted a more regular job to cover her rent and expenses.
She had applied for jobs as far afield as Wellington, and said she was prepared to leave Rotorua if she was offered a job elsewhere.
"I'm gonna keep trying. If I had a job I'd be happy."
