The Danny Lee Springfield Open attracts some of the finest golfers in the country.

The local legacy of Rotorua's finest professional golfer is set to add another chapter.

This weekend marks the ninth edition of the Danny Lee Springfield Open - a 54-hole tournament which attracts some of the finest amateur golfers the country has to offer.

Played over two days - 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday - the tournament gives amateurs the opportunity to experience the course where former world amateur number one Danny Lee developed the game which has led him to the US PGA Tour.

The generous prize table is worth about $10,000, with gross and nett prizes to be presented to men, women and masters categories for players older than 40 on January 1. The entry fee is $110, or $66 for players under the 23 on January 1.

Practice times will be available today and tomorrow. Organisers will be providing lunch on Saturday and a platter on Sunday for all players.
