Rotorua's Danny Lee is in contention near the top of the leaderboard at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.
Rotorua golfer Danny Lee is neatly placed to record his eighth top-10 finish this season despite a roller-coaster third round at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.
Lee shot a two-under 69 yesterday morning at TPC Boston, which included seven birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey.
Lee was in ashare of sixth position at eight-under par going into the final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship this morning (NZT), five shots behind leader Henrik Stenson.
If he fires another good round today he will be gunning for his eighth top-10 finish on the PGA Tour this season.
More importantly for the Rotorua golfer, he also looks a sure bet to make the International Team being finalised tomorrow for the Presidents Cup in South Korea - Lee's country of birth.
Lee has made it no secret this season his goal was to make Nick Price's International Team - reserved for the top 10 players on the world rankings from outside the US and Europe. Lee is currently 10th on that list and looks like he'll comfortably hold his spot following this event.
Price also has two captain's picks to add to the International Team, which will contest the Presidents Cup in October.
New Zealand Golf high performance manager Gregg Thorpe said it was great to see Lee reaching such heights this year.
"It's fantastic to see Danny's progression over the years. He was such a prodigious young amateur talent and so many of our current amateurs have played with him, so it's great for those players to see him reach this level."
If he keeps up his current form Lee will also be gunning for two more big pay days at the BMW Championship (September 17-20) and Tour Championship (September 24-27).
The Deutsche Bank Championship is the second of four play-off tournaments held at the end of the PGA Tour season to find the FedEx Cup champion.
