Rotorua golfer Danny Lee is in contention to win back-to-back PGA Tour events going into the final round of the John Deere Classic.
Lee won his maiden PGA tour event last weekend at The Greenbrier Classic and has picked up where he left off during the latest event in Illinois.
Lee sits at 15-under par at the John Deere Classic after his first three rounds of 68, 68 and 62. His nine-under 62 this morning featured nine birdies and no bogeys.
Lee is two shots off the leader Jordan Spieth, whose round of 61 this morning fired him into the outright lead.
Lee played the opening two rounds of the John Deere Classic in the same group as Spieth, a back-to-back major winner, and will play alongside him again tomorrow during the last round.
Lee played a couple of holes in the rain today but said it did not affect his game.
"When I was young I grew up playing golf in New Zealand and I always practiced and played in the rain. It rains quite often back in New Zealand so I'm used to playing in the rain."
