A raft of local groups and individuals have been given a welcome pre-Christmas boost.

The Geyser Community Foundation celebrated giving at its second annual Awards Function recently, supported by BNZ Partners, Rotorua.

Chairman Joe La Grouw said Geyser was delighted to be able to make a wide range of gifts available to a variety of people in the Rotorua and Taupo communities, thanks to the generosity of an increasing number of donors.

"Our aim is to provide a simple and effective way for individuals, families, businesses and other generous people to support the communities and causes that are important to them.

"It is particularly pleasing to be able to make gifts available from the Rotorua Community Fund for the first time. These gifts represent donations from individuals, organisations and businesses in the Rotorua community who want to contribute towards a permanent legacy for the benefit of their community.

"Our vision is to build substantial endowment funds to meet the existing and emerging needs of the Rotorua and Taupo communities. The income from these funds will provide positive, sustainable change in our communities for the long term."

The total value of gifts exceeded $16,000. Geyser has gifted almost $400,000 on behalf of its donors this financial year.
